We came across the Danish tall-ship "George Stand" in dense fog off Dun Laoghaire, and enjoyed her company for a while before proceeding on our way.
The training ship Georg Stage was built in 1934 at Frederikshavn Shipyard and floating dock. It is a fully rigged vessel with a permanent crew of 10 and 63 trainees. The training ship belongs to the independent institution The Georg Stage Memorial Foundation, whose aim is: ‘To give young people wishing to go to sea, their first lesson in practical seamanship aboard a purpose-built training ship’. The training ship Georg Stage is run in accordance with this policy to this very day. 18th April 2019.

Finding a tall ship in dense fog is a a slightly surreal and fascinating experience.

Like the "Marie Celeste" in the fog, but with 30 Danish trainee sailors going about their business. They seemed delighted to see their first tentative signs of Ireland, and waved at us enthuastically.

Our very first appearance on the MARINE TRAFFIC.COM website. A big - small moment !

In March of 2020 the lives of people right across the world were thrown into chaos by the tragic Corona Virus. For many, it brought devistation,
sickness, and death. Here in Ireland we dug in and waited for the surge to pass over us. It was a strange new world!
